Family Day at the Arena

Munich, November 21 - The Lions are on an unbeaten streak of nine matches and today will be a tough test to continue the streak when they host Frankfurt, kickoff at 13:30.  FSV sit sixth in the table, and TSV in 8th, only 1 point behind. "There is no reason that this winning streak should stop," claims head coach Rainer Maurer.

1860's streak in the league started with the fourth match and five wins and four draws later, the team is in great position to fight for promotion.  Maurer expects to continue the winning streak with the next match. But he and his team will be aware of Franfurt's close defeats during their road matches.

Frankfurt have lost three of their five away games with the same result 1-0. "They have seasoned players who have experience in the top league, but their defense is prone to fast counterattacks," explains Maurer. Frankfurt is the only team who haven't drawn this season which could lead to an interesting face off.

The game on Sunday will also be a trial of strength for both top goalkeepers Gabor Kiraly (1860 Munich - 51 defended shots on goal) and Patric Klandt (FSV Frankf. - 49 defended shots on goal) in the 2nd Bundeslida. 1860's starting eleven may be the same that resulted in a close draw in Cottbus last week. Moritz Leitner is named as an alternative for the starting eleven but also as an excellent substitute, but it depends on the last training session before the match.

Not only the next three games against teams of the top 8 will be important. With further success 1860 will attract more punters for the upcoming games. Over 15.000 fans are expected to watch the game against Frankfurt. In comparison to the second round 2009/10 the decline of the spectators has stopped. Nevertheless the atmosphere is awesome, but as long as winning continues, there could be more fan support.

And to attract the fans, the Lions have a special offer for families today.  1860 seats in four sections have been reserved at a special price of 18.60 Euro for adults and their kids can attend for free.  Catering has been set up for the family block.
