A significant fire incident occurred in an apartment in Baden, Lower Austria, where an elderly resident was promptly transported to a hospital for precautionary checks. The exact cause of the fire remains undetermined, with initial reports indicating that the fire department was alerted only after the flames had subsided.

Firefighters, who responded to the call on Friday afternoon, discovered clear signs of a fire originating from the kitchen area. It was reported that the blaze likely broke out during the night, but whether it extinguished itself due to a lack of oxygen or if efforts were made to douse the flames is still unclear.

Upon their arrival, firefighters utilized thermal imaging technology to locate and rescue two cats trapped within the heavily soot-covered apartment. The animals were provided with oxygen and subsequently transferred to an animal shelter, where they received further medical attention at a veterinary clinic.

In addition to rescuing the pets, firefighters conducted safety measures in the apartment, which was rendered uninhabitable due to extensive soot damage. The situation highlights the importance of timely emergency responses and the challenges posed by domestic fires.
