Pope Francis: Experiencing a Time of Healing for Body and Soul

Sun 30th Mar, 2025

Pope Francis has shared that he is currently experiencing a significant period of healing, both spiritually and physically. During his Angelus prayer this Sunday, which was delivered in written form for the seventh time since his hospitalization on February 14, the Pope emphasized the importance of this season of Lent and the Jubilee year as opportunities for healing.

In his address, he expressed gratitude to those who serve as instruments of healing for others through their words, knowledge, affection, and prayers. He conveyed a message of unity in the shared experiences of fragility and illness, reminding us that these are common human experiences. He noted that through Christ, we are united in redemption.

The Pope also directed his thoughts towards the people of Myanmar, who are suffering from the aftermath of a devastating earthquake, and issued a renewed call for peace in various global conflict zones, including Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. His concern for the situation in Myanmar was particularly pronounced, as he urged continued prayer for peace in the region.

Furthermore, he addressed the ongoing crisis in South Sudan, a country that he has long been concerned about and which he visited in February 2023. He expressed deep concern over the rising tensions in South Sudan and urged all leaders to take decisive actions to reduce these tensions. He called for courage and responsibility in engaging in constructive dialogue to alleviate the suffering of the South Sudanese people and to build a future characterized by peace and stability.

According to Vatican sources, Pope Francis's health condition is reported to be stable. He is currently receiving high doses of oxygen for a few hours each night, while a lower dosage is administered during the day. The Pope continues with his respiratory and motor therapy, which has shown improvements in his voice. His recent health challenges have largely stemmed from bronchial and lung issues, which have significantly affected his ability to speak, particularly during his recent stay at the Gemelli hospital in Rome.
