Pernitz Introduces New Water Treatment Facility for Safe Drinking Water

Fri 4th Apr, 2025

The municipality of Pernitz has taken a significant step towards ensuring the safety and quality of its drinking water. Following last year's water contamination issues caused by flooding, the local government has invested EUR100,000 in a new disinfection facility. This initiative aims to provide residents with clean and safe drinking water.

The newly installed ultraviolet (UV) disinfection system is located within a container structure at the Kohlhofmühle well field. Currently, the system is capable of processing 14 cubic meters of water per hour, but it has the capacity to expand its operations to handle up to 30 cubic meters.

The introduction of this UV treatment facility serves as a safeguard against future water quality issues, a concern that has been prevalent in the community. Local officials express optimism about the impact this facility will have on public health and safety.

Maintenance of the installation is a priority, and the municipality has assigned two water management professionals to oversee its operations and ensure it functions effectively. Regular upkeep is essential for maintaining optimal water quality standards.

This proactive measure is part of the municipality's ongoing commitment to enhancing the infrastructure and health standards within the community. As Pernitz continues to develop and improve its water treatment capabilities, residents can expect a more reliable water supply that meets health regulations.
