New Revelations in 'Signal-Gate': Mike Waltz and Team Allegedly Created Numerous Sensitive Chats

Fri 4th Apr, 2025

Recent developments in the ongoing 'Signal-Gate' controversy reveal that Mike Waltz, the U.S. National Security Advisor, and his team allegedly established multiple chat groups on the messaging platform Signal to discuss sensitive international affairs. This comes despite Waltz's earlier claims that the situation had been resolved.

According to reports, Waltz and his associates created at least twenty chat groups addressing critical geopolitical issues ranging from Ukraine to China and the Middle East. This revelation follows an earlier scandal involving a chat related to U.S. military actions against the Houthi militia in Yemen. It was during this incident that Waltz inadvertently included Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, in a group chat, which led to concerns about the sharing of classified information.

Goldberg's reporting uncovered that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and CIA Director John Ratcliffe may have shared sensitive details within these chats, including the precise timing of military strikes against the Houthi forces. This raised alarms regarding the security protocols being followed by the National Security Council (NSC), which had apparently relied heavily on Signal for internal communications.

A government official noted that establishing Signal chats for national security discussions was standard practice within Waltz's team. However, there remain questions about whether confidential information was exchanged through these channels. While Signal is regarded as a secure platform, various U.S. agencies have issued warnings against its use for sensitive communications.

In addition to Signal, it has been reported that Waltz and his team utilized personal Gmail accounts for professional discussions, which is considered less secure. Reports indicated that one of Waltz's team members engaged in technical discussions about weapon systems using Gmail. However, there is no evidence suggesting that Waltz himself shared classified information through these personal email accounts.

Despite the emerging details surrounding 'Signal-Gate', it remains uncertain whether Waltz's position will be jeopardized. Recent reports indicate that President Trump has expressed hesitation in dismissing Waltz, largely due to his frustrations with Goldberg's previous critical coverage of him. Trump appears unwilling to grant what he perceives as a victory to a journalist from a left-leaning publication.

The continuing leaks from within the Trump administration suggest that Waltz faces opposition among his colleagues, which could threaten his position in the future. As the situation develops, the implications of these revelations on national security protocols and internal communications within the White House will likely be closely scrutinized.
