A 25-year-old man has been sentenced to nine months in prison after leading police on a dangerous high-speed chase through urban areas, reaching speeds over 100 kilometers per hour.

The incident began when the defendant claimed he could not return home from a visit to a friend because his girlfriend was too intoxicated to drive. He then took her car without a valid driver's license. Upon noticing a police vehicle trailing him with its lights flashing, he initially pulled over, believing the officers intended to pass him. When he realized they were pursuing him, he panicked and accelerated.

During the chase, the man admitted to running red lights and endangering other road users. Witnesses, including police officers, reported that he drove directly towards a patrol car, forcing the driver to take evasive action to avoid a collision. The defendant later claimed he merely changed lanes to pass by, but accounts from witnesses indicate a reckless disregard for traffic regulations.

Furthermore, he was involved in a collision with a motorcyclist, who fell as a result. The accused stated he did not notice this incident occurring as he fled on foot from the scene of the chase.

Ultimately, his actions led to significant legal repercussions, with the court ruling that his prior offenses and the danger posed to the public warranted a substantial penalty. This latest incident has further jeopardized his ability to obtain a driver's license in the future.
