Mon 31st Mar, 2025

A routine police check conducted by officers from the Scheibbs police station on February 17 revealed multiple violations involving a 30-year-old resident of the Scheibbs district. The traffic stop led to the discovery that the driver had been under the influence of narcotics. Subsequent investigations by police, in collaboration with personnel from the State Office for Protection of the Constitution and Counterterrorism in Lower Austria, uncovered not only a small quantity of illegal drugs but also an alarming cache of weapons and Nazi memorabilia at the suspect's residence.

The weapons unearthed included military-grade equipment, notably a fully functional MG 53 machine gun along with its accessories, and seven crates of ammunition. Among the other firearms discovered were a shortened double-barreled shotgun, a pump-action shotgun, a semi-automatic small caliber rifle, and various types of ammunition, including prohibited expanding ammunition.

Additionally, officers found an array of Nazi memorabilia in the young man's home. This collection included NS symbols, identification badges, emblems, daggers, jewelry, a flag, and various documents associated with the Nazi regime. The presence of such items, in conjunction with the weapons, raises significant concerns regarding public safety and the potential for extremist activities.

The police have not yet disclosed the full extent of the ongoing investigation or whether the suspect will face specific charges relating to the possession of these materials. Authorities are continuing their inquiries to ascertain the origins of the weapons and memorabilia, as well as any possible connections to larger extremist networks.

This incident underscores the critical importance of vigilance and proactive policing in addressing potential threats within communities, particularly those involving illegal arms and hate-driven artifacts. The police are urging anyone with additional information regarding this case or similar activities to come forward.
