Approval Granted for Housing Development Project in Scheibbs Center

The Scheibbs municipal council has recently made significant decisions regarding a housing development project located in the center of Scheibbs. Initially, in July of the previous year, the council approved the opening of an area spanning approximately 8,800 square meters designated for residential construction at Schöllgraben/Jägersteig. However, due to concerns over landslide risks indicated by an outdated report, this approval was retracted in December.

In light of these safety concerns, the municipality imposed a construction moratorium over a portion of this land, specifically restricting development on 6,800 square meters. During the latest council meeting held on Tuesday, officials decided to extend this building freeze to include two additional plots, as the risk of landslides in these areas could not yet be ruled out.

Despite these restrictions, the council also took steps to mitigate the impact of the moratorium by reducing the area of the construction freeze in another section of the project site. A small portion of the land, amounting to 750 square meters, was released for development, allowing for some progress in the housing initiative.

As it stands, the overall area under the construction moratorium now totals around 8,000 square meters. The council's actions reflect a careful balance between promoting residential development and ensuring the safety of potential future residents.
