Hoftheater Bergkirchen is a free state theater located in the Dachau district, offering a diverse program of plays, comedies, music, literature, and youth theater. As the only professional ensemble theater in the region between Munich and Augsburg, it presents around eight new productions each season, along with repertoire works in over 100 performances. The theater operates almost every third day, primarily on weekends from Thursday to Sunday. Annually, it hosts the 'Theatersommer Bergkirchen' in July and August, which has become a staple of the cultural life in the Dachau area. Established in September 2005, it serves as the independent venue for the Neue Werkbühne München gGmbH, which was founded 55 years ago as a touring theater for schools in Bavaria.
