Hansens Esszimmer (formerly Kantine Freiburg) is much more than just a lunch spot. Located in Vauban, we create fresh and imaginative menus every day, using intuition, expertise, and experience. Our dishes are often spontaneous and improvised, based on what our local farmers and the season provide. We pride ourselves on not using pre-packaged or canned ingredients. We focus on vegetarian and vegetable-based cuisine, while also respecting the preferences of our guests for meat, which we source only from happy animals to support local sustainable agriculture. Since 2007, Hansens Esszimmer has been a staple of community life in Vauban, attracting many regular customers who enjoy chatting with friends or quietly reading the newspaper during their lunch break.
