The Chiemhauser Alm is accessible from two locations: from the Bergsteigerdorf Schleching, one can follow the northern part of the Samer- and Schmugglerweg and then branch off at the height of the Haider-Alm towards Chiemhauser Alm (approx. 2 hours ascent). The southern part of the circular route leads over the Berggasthof Streichen and the Kroatensteig to the Taubensee, the highest mountain lake in the Chiemgau, from where one can descend to the Alm (approx. 3.5 hours ascent). A hike from the Taubensee parking lot in Unterwössen over the Luftbodensteig and the Luftbodensattel is also worthwhile (approx. 4-4.5 hours ascent). The Alm, which looks like a former farmhouse - and probably was one - houses young animals (calves) as well as other small animals like chickens and rabbits: all "little hikers" will be fully satisfied. Since the Chiemhauser Alm is also accessible with an all-terrain stroller, it is an ideal destination for families. For the physical well-being, hikers can expect a typical Alm snack with cheese, bacon, and sausages. Coffee and cake are also available.
