About BierHimmel Hexenhäusle

Welcome to the Hexenhäusle, a historic building dating back to the 16th/17th century, originally serving as a gatekeeper's house at the Vestnertor. The structure showcases the efforts made in the 16th century to reinforce the castle fortifications. Under the guidance of the Maltese fortress builder Antoni Fazuni, three massive pentagonal bastions were constructed between 1538 and 1545. The Hexenhäusle offers a glimpse into the past, with its well-preserved features, including the vaulted passage and the curved wooden bridge. In the 1960s, a quirky elderly lady lived here, often mistaken for a witch by local children. The building was later transformed into the restaurant 'Hexenhäusle'. We look forward to welcoming you to this historic site.
