Unusual Rescue Operation: Snake Captured Near Kindergarten

In an unusual incident that unfolded on May 2nd in the small community of Großstelzendorf, local firefighters were called to assist in the capture of a snake spotted near a kindergarten. The alarm was raised by a staff member who reported the presence of a reddish-brown snake hiding in a crevice on the street in front of the facility.

Upon arrival, the firefighters confirmed the sighting and shared a photograph to identify the species. Community members quickly identified the snake as a corn snake, which is non-venomous and not native to the area. In a stroke of luck, they reached out to the Agricultural College in Hollabrunn, where a firefighter in training for small animal care was able to accept the snake.

It was reported that the snake was in good condition upon capture, and while the origin of the snake remains unknown--whether it was an escaped pet or released intentionally--the community expressed gratitude for the swift and coordinated response from the firefighters and local volunteers.
