Authorities in Russia have reported significant drone attacks from Ukraine, resulting in residential fires in the Kursk region and the blocking of a major highway in the Voronezh area. These developments were disclosed by officials on Monday. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries from these incidents. In total, Russian air defenses intercepted 162 Ukrainian drones overnight.
On Sunday, Ukraine launched a bold assault on five Russian military airfields, some located thousands of kilometers from the border. The attacks were noted in several border regions, including Kursk, Lipetsk, Belgorod, Voronezh, and Oryol, as well as in the more distant regions of Ryazan and Tambov.
During the overnight assault, 57 drones were shot down over Kursk alone. According to Regional Governor Alexander Chinchin, debris from the downed drones ignited fires in multiple homes and caused damage to an apartment building. In the Voronezh region, 16 drones were intercepted. Debris from these drones severed power lines that subsequently fell onto the M-4 highway, leading to its partial closure. Additionally, fragments damaged several building facades.
In Lipetsk, one individual reportedly sustained minor injuries, as stated by Governor Igor Artamonov.
Meanwhile, Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) announced that it had thwarted an attempt to set fire to railway infrastructure in the Primorye region. According to reports, two 19-year-old residents were allegedly acting on orders from Ukrainian intelligence services, intending to commit arson on railway relay cabinets in exchange for financial rewards.
In a retaliatory response, Russian forces launched heavy drone and missile strikes against Ukraine, targeting regions in the southeast. Reports from local authorities indicated that five individuals were killed in the Zaporizhzhia region, including three women in the village of Ternuvate. Additionally, a man was killed in a nearby district due to a guided bomb strike. The attacks resulted in injuries to nine people and the destruction of a private residence.
In the northeastern Kharkiv region, six civilians were reported injured, including two children, following drone strikes and the subsequent impact of ballistic missiles on the regional capital early in the morning. Governor Oleh Synyehubov stated that the initial drone attacks were followed by missile strikes, although these did not cause significant damage.
In the central Dnipropetrovsk region, Russian attacks targeted the cities of Nikopol and Marhanez, located across the Dnipro River from the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. Officials reported injuries to three individuals aged 68, 51, and 72, who were subsequently hospitalized. Damage also occurred to a medical facility, a fire station, and a retail establishment.
