Fri 16th May, 2025

The police have announced that they will provide new insights into the investigation surrounding the tragic school shooting at Risbergska School in Örebro, which occurred on February 4, 2025. The presentation, scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, aims to clarify details regarding the shooter, identified as Rickard Andersson, and to share a more visual representation of the events leading up to and during the attack.

Authorities have previously indicated that they are developing 3D models to illustrate the sequence of events within the school building at the time of the incident. The conclusion of the investigation means that no charges can be filed, as the perpetrator has died by suicide following the attack.

In the tragic event, Andersson claimed the lives of ten individuals and left six others injured before taking his own life in a classroom. Since the incident, the Örebro police have conducted an extensive investigation, including over 1,000 interviews and the seizure of approximately 700 items, as well as gathering footage that spans six years, according to reports from the police investigation.

The investigation has now surpassed 10,000 pages of documentation, focusing on the shooter's life leading up to the incident. A significant aspect of the inquiry has been to determine Andersson's motives.

According to the lead investigator, Kristoffer Zickbauer, there have been no indications of a racist motive or any form of selection based on race or gender. This school shooting is noted as the deadliest mass shooting in Swedish history, prompting the Örebro police to seek guidance from international experts, including those involved in the investigation of the 2011 Utøya terrorist attack.

In the final stages of the investigation, police have sought information from other countries regarding Andersson's transactions involving cryptocurrencies. They have also been awaiting crucial responses from the National Forensic Center in Linköping.
