The recent Green Party Congress has concluded with the election of a new federal board, featuring numerous fresh faces. Notably, Stefan Kaineder, the leader of the Green Party in Upper Austria and a regional councilor, has been re-elected to the board. In contrast, all other board members are newcomers, including former Justice Minister and deputy club chair Alma Zadic, Vienna's Green Party chair Peter Kraus, Tyrolean Member of Parliament Barbara Neßler, and Helga Krismer, head of the Lower Austrian Greens. Additionally, Bernhard Seitz, the deputy district leader of Leopoldstadt in Vienna, will serve as the new federal finance officer.

The newly elected federal spokesperson for the Green Party, Leonore Gewessler, expressed her congratulations to the new board members, emphasizing the significant work ahead for the party. Gewessler highlighted the need to broaden the party's appeal and to develop improved solutions for critical issues including economic policy, security, education, and climate protection. She underscored the importance of winning elections to ensure a robust green voice in the country, particularly in light of the current government's actions.

Gewessler's remarks reflect a commitment to collaboration with the newly formed team as they navigate the challenges over the next three years. The Congress marks a pivotal moment for the Green Party, as it seeks to strengthen its position in Austrian politics and advocate for environmentally sustainable policies.
