Itabus Launches Bus Services in Austria Starting October 16

Mon 6th Oct, 2025

The Italian long-distance bus operator, Itabus, is set to expand its services into Austria, commencing on October 16. This new route will include daily bus trips to Graz, Villach, and Klagenfurt, making travel accessible for passengers from major Italian cities.

From Rome, Florence, Venice, and Udine, travelers will find two daily departures to Klagenfurt. Additionally, services from Naples, Rome, Trieste, and Ljubljana will also provide daily trips to Graz. For Villach, buses will operate two times daily from Rome, Siena, Bologna, Venice, and Udine.

Itabus has announced a partnership with the Italian high-speed train service, Italo, which will allow for intermodal travel options. Passengers can now combine train and bus journeys, such as taking a train to Venice Mestre and continuing to Austria on Itabus, with a single ticket valid for both modes of transport.

Francesco Fiore, the company's CEO, stated that this expansion is part of their strategy to enhance their network and reach more international destinations. Following a period of consolidation within Italy, Itabus is now focusing on international growth, with plans for additional European destinations already in the works.

Currently, Itabus operates a fleet of 100 buses and services 112 cities across Italy. The company aims to provide efficient transit options between cities that lack direct and effective train connections, all while maintaining competitive pricing for passengers.
