On Europe Day, eight high school classes visited the Foreign Ministry to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Austria's EU membership and to explore the benefits and opportunities the European Union provides. The initiative aimed to engage students in discussions about the EU's significance in promoting peace, security, and prosperity.

Austria's Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of the EU as a framework for collaboration and solidarity, asserting that it serves as a cornerstone of Austrian policy. She expressed her hope that students will take full advantage of the opportunities offered by the EU and contribute to ensuring that Europe remains a place where diversity is celebrated and freedom, peace, and prosperity are safeguarded.

During their visit, students gained insights into Austria's role within the EU, including aspects such as the Common Foreign and Security Policy, and the mechanisms for managing internal and external crises. They also had the chance to learn about educational and career opportunities available through programs like Erasmus+.

The event featured live connections to the Austrian EU embassy in Brussels, allowing students to engage with representatives and deepen their understanding of EU processes. Additionally, they participated in discussions with a state secretary, who highlighted the vital role young people will play in shaping the future of the EU.

Students were encouraged to voice their expectations of the EU and participated in a quiz related to Europe Day, fostering a sense of involvement and awareness about European affairs.
