Munich. A young criminal (20) escaping from the police used the U-Bahn tunnel at Münchner Freiheit to evade capture.
On Wednesday around 16.40, witnesses called the police because three suspects were stopped in an antique shop located in Hohenzollernstraße. Police wanted to question the suspects when they saw them leaving the shop. While two of them stopped, the third person fled n the direction of the U-Bahn Station at Münchner Freiheit. The policeman who followed the young man, saw that he jumped into the railway area in the underground tunnel and ran in the direction of Dietlindenstraße.
The U -Bahn was stopped for about 20 minutes and the line was searched. Although the U-Bahn stations Münchner Freiheit and Dietlindenstraße were locked, the criminal could not be found and it is thought that perhaps he left the tunnel through an emergency exit.
Upon questioning of the two friends it turned out that the escaped person is a refugee, already previously issued with an arrest warrant.
