A civil service worker has recently attracted significant attention at the Innsbruck Correctional Facility due to allegations of smuggling prohibited items to inmates. Reports indicate that the young man acted as a courier, facilitating the entry of a mobile phone among other contraband. Following the revelation, he has lost his position within the facility.

The situation came to light after a violent altercation occurred among inmates who were allegedly working in the staff kitchen. According to reports, rumors circulated during this incident regarding the presence of an unauthorized smartphone in the kitchen. Subsequent inspections confirmed the existence of the device.

The inmate who was identified as the instigator of the fight was promptly reassigned. Upon his transfer to another area within the facility, he reportedly confessed that the civil service worker, who had been assisting in the staff kitchen for several months, was responsible for smuggling the phone into the prison.

In addition to the mobile phone, the civil service worker is accused of bringing in chargers, USB sticks containing music, and AirPods without authorization. The Justice Ministry has confirmed these details in a statement to the Austrian Press Agency. Following the incident, the correctional facility reported the matter to the civil service authority.

As of now, the civil service worker is no longer employed at the Innsbruck Correctional Facility. Authorities continue to address the implications of this breach of security.
