A bus accident on Monday afternoon between Aidlingen and Sindelfingen in Baden-Württemberg resulted in the driver sustaining severe injuries. The articulated bus veered off the road and split in two, according to local police reports. Of the bus passengers, three individuals, including a child, suffered minor injuries.

The accident occurred around 5:20 p.m. as the bus was traveling on a district road towards Darmsheim. Authorities have yet to determine the exact cause of the incident, but it involved the bus swerving and colliding with bushes and shrubbery off the road. The impact was severe enough to break the bus at its articulated joint, also known as the bellows, effectively dividing it into two separate parts.

The bus driver, a 50-year-old man, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Two adult passengers, aged 26 and 27, were also hospitalized with less severe injuries. A 12-year-old girl who was traveling on the bus received outpatient treatment for minor injuries. Another child on board, an 11-year-old, was unharmed in the crash.

The damaged vehicle required towing from the scene. Local authorities reported that the road, known as Kreisstraße K1066, remained closed as of 8:45 p.m. Police anticipated reopening the route later that evening after completing their investigation and clearing the debris.

The estimated property damage from the accident is projected to be approximately 200,000 euros. Investigators are still working to determine the factors that led to the accident, which currently remain unclear.

Meanwhile, a separate incident involving a public bus occurred in Bremen on Sunday. In this case, an 18-year-old man reportedly commandeered a bus by claiming to be the relief driver at the main train station. He then deviated significantly from the scheduled route, diverting the bus with passengers onboard through western parts of the city towards Bremen-Nord, diverging from its usual path via the highway. The police released details of this event on Monday.

Both cases highlight alarming events involving public transportation in Germany, prompting concerns over passenger safety and operational protocols. Authorities in both regions continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incidents to prevent future occurrences.
