Audi recruitment in overdrive

Audi has advertised 500 new jobs for the production of the Q6-etron electric car at its main plant in Ingolstadt. In the fall, the SUV will be the first car in the Group to roll off the assembly line on the PPE luxury-class electric platform, which Audi developed together with Porsche.

The plant will also have its own battery assembly with 300 jobs. The VW subsidiary announced that its own module production for the fully electric series would soon be set up in Ingolstadt. "We are using electrification for a comprehensive realignment of our global production network, battery assembly in Ingolstadt is part of it," said Audi Board Member for Production Gerd Walker.

Audi had previously announced job cuts in 2019
Audi announced in November 2019 that it would cut around 9,500 jobs in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm by 2025. Since 2020, many employees have accepted the early retirement program offered and left the company. Around 54,000 people work at Audi in Germany today, a good 40,000 of them in Ingolstadt. In 2019, Audi had 44,500 employees in Ingolstadt.

The austerity program was passed by the then outgoing Audi boss Bram Schot, who left the group at the beginning of 2020. As was announced in June, his successor Markus Duesmann will leave in September 1 of this year. The new Audi boss will then be Gernot Döllner, a confidante of VW boss Oliver Blume, who is currently setting the course as a group leader.
