Volkspartei Welcomes Christoph Zarits as New Leader for Burgenland

The Austrian People's Party (Volkspartei) has expressed its support for Christoph Zarits, who is set to take on the role of Landesparteiobmann (state party leader) for Burgenland, alongside Bernd Strobl as the new Klubobmann (club chairman). The party emphasized its commitment to fostering constructive contributions at the federal, state, and local levels.

Nico Marchetti, the party's Secretary-General, highlighted Zarits' extensive political background, which spans municipal, state, and federal levels, as a significant asset for the party. Marchetti stated that Zarits' experience positions him well to advocate for the needs of the people in Burgenland effectively.

Marchetti also commended Strobl for his dedicated service as both a mayor and member of the state parliament, noting that he has worked passionately for the interests of Burgenland's residents. Together, Zarits and Strobl are expected to form a robust leadership team that will prioritize the concerns of local communities.

The Secretary-General acknowledged the contributions of Christian Sagartz, the outgoing Landesparteiobmann, who has tirelessly represented the interests of Burgenland's citizens over the past five years. Marchetti believes that Zarits is well-equipped to succeed Sagartz, given his experience as a member of the National Council and as a former Secretary-General of the ÖAAB (Österreichischer Arbeitnehmerinnen- und Arbeitnehmerbund).

Marchetti concluded by affirming the party's commitment to ensuring that the municipalities in Burgenland have reliable representatives who appreciate the vital work of local representatives and support community autonomy.
