Teenager Arrested After Firing Blank Shots in Vienna Incident

A 19-year-old male was apprehended by police in Vienna following an alarming incident in which he discharged a realistic-looking blank gun multiple times into the air. This event occurred on Friday evening in the Favoriten district, directly in front of his ex-girlfriend's new partner.

According to police reports, the young man had offered his 16-year-old ex-girlfriend a ride home after a local event. However, upon arriving at the designated location, he found not his ex but her new boyfriend, aged 17. This unexpected encounter led to a confrontation between the two males, during which the 19-year-old brandished the blank gun and fired it into the air while issuing threats.

Emergency services were quickly dispatched to the scene, but by the time they arrived, the suspect had fled. However, he was located shortly thereafter by officers from a special police unit within a nearby event hall in Favoriten. The blank pistol used in the incident was later found and confiscated from the suspect's vehicle.

Authorities have stated that the arrested individual remains in police custody as of Saturday and is facing charges, including dangerous threats. The police have emphasized the seriousness of the incident, given the potential for escalation and the risk posed to public safety.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding youth violence and the use of imitation firearms, which can lead to dangerous misunderstandings and public alarm. Police are urging community members to report any similar incidents to prevent escalation and ensure the safety of all residents.
