Swedish Royal Court Addresses Princess Sofia's Past Encounters with Jeffrey Epstein

The Swedish Royal Court has released a statement clarifying the nature of Princess Sofia's past interactions with Jeffrey Epstein, the American financier who later became widely known for criminal activities. The clarification follows recent reports that highlighted multiple meetings between Princess Sofia and Epstein in the mid-2000s, prior to her marriage into the Swedish royal family.

According to information disclosed through leaked correspondence, Epstein, in coordination with Swedish financier Barbro Ehnbom, allegedly offered Princess Sofia--then known as Sofia Hellqvist--an opportunity to visit his private island in the Caribbean, as well as other forms of support, including a place at a film school. The Royal Court, however, emphasized that Princess Sofia never accepted such offers and did not travel to Epstein's Caribbean property.

In official communications, the Royal Court stated that the Princess's encounters with Epstein were limited to a handful of public social events, such as restaurant gatherings and film premieres. There was no evidence of any private or extensive association beyond these occasions. The Royal Court further addressed claims suggesting that Epstein may have assisted Princess Sofia with educational or travel arrangements. According to the statement, these claims are unfounded, and there was no assistance from Epstein regarding acting education, visa procurement, or any other forms of support.

The Royal Court also clarified that Princess Sofia has had no contact with Epstein for two decades and has never been in a situation of dependence or obligation towards him. Barbro Ehnbom, whose involvement was noted in the communications, is a recognized figure in Swedish financial circles and was present at the royal wedding of Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia in 2015. Her correspondence allegedly facilitated interactions between Epstein and Princess Sofia, but the Royal Court maintained that these contacts did not result in any ongoing relationship, support, or inappropriate influence.

The renewed scrutiny of Princess Sofia's past associations arises amid heightened global focus on individuals connected to Epstein. The Royal Court's reiteration of the facts is intended to provide transparency and protect the integrity of the Swedish royal family.
