Tragic Plane Crash in San Diego Claims Six Lives

A small aircraft crash in a residential area of San Diego, California, has resulted in the likely deaths of all six individuals on board, according to local authorities. Fire department spokesperson Dan Eddy stated that while he could not confirm any survivors, the situation seemed grim.

Reports indicate that among the deceased is music manager Dave Shapiro, known for his work with notable bands such as Sum 41 and Hanson. The crash also reportedly involved a drummer from the lesser-known metal band The Devil Wears Prada. The incident occurred under poor visibility conditions, transforming a street in San Diego into a scene of devastation early Thursday morning.

The fire ignited by the crash was swiftly brought under control by emergency responders; however, it caused significant damage, affecting at least ten homes and destroying several vehicles. Approximately 100 residents have been displaced, seeking refuge in hotels or with family and friends. This area is home to many families with military connections.

Describing the aftermath, Police Chief Scott Wahl conveyed the horror of witnessing the scene, where fuel flowed down the street and flames engulfed the surroundings. Emergency personnel displayed commendable bravery during the evacuation efforts. Footage from a few hours post-incident revealed a street littered with debris and charred vehicles.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, as the pilot was reportedly attempting to land at a nearby airport amidst dense fog. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have initiated inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
