Russia Launches New Drone Attacks on Ukraine

In the early hours of Sunday, the Russian military initiated another wave of drone assaults targeting undisclosed locations across Ukraine. Ukrainian air defense systems reported multiple incursions of combat drones in the eastern and southern regions of the country, triggering air raid alarms in numerous areas. Initial reports suggest that the air defense successfully intercepted the first waves of unmanned aerial vehicles in the east, with the sounds of explosions reverberating throughout the night.

According to air defense sources, a total of 73 drones were shot down during their approach, although these figures have not been independently verified. As a result of the strikes, a significant fire broke out in an industrial park located in the city of Lviv (Lemberg). Mayor Andriy Sadovyi shared an image on Telegram showing the facility engulfed in flames. The military administration reported that, during this combined assault involving both drones and missiles, two individuals lost their lives in the Lviv region, while two others sustained injuries.

Sadovyi emphasized that the industrial park, known as Sparrow, had no military targets on its premises. This area, situated near the Polish border, is crucial for Ukraine's logistics in receiving military supplies from the West.

In the early hours of Sunday, the air forces raised alerts due to threats posed by Russian Kinzhal missiles. Authorities indicated that multiple explosions occurred in the city amid the drone attacks, prompting a temporary suspension of public transport services and causing power outages.

The city of Zaporizhzhia also faced a combined assault from drones and fighter jets early in the morning. Regional military administrator Ivan Fedorov reported that at least ten combat drones and guided bombs struck the city, resulting in one fatality and injuries to at least four residents. Several neighborhoods experienced disruptions to their water and electricity supplies.

Additionally, Kyiv, Dnipro, and Odessa reported drone strikes, although details about casualties and damages in these cities remain unclear at this time.

In response to the Russian air attacks, the Polish military announced that Polish and allied aircraft have been deployed to monitor the situation. The strikes have been directed towards areas close to the border with the NATO member state, and ground-based air defense systems have been placed on high alert.
