Regional Drug Trafficking Network Disrupted in Styria
Authorities in Styria, in collaboration with the Vienna State Criminal Police Office, have dismantled a significant drug trafficking operation linked to individuals from Vienna and Salzburg. The investigation led to the identification of a 23-year-old suspect who is accused of distributing approximately one kilogram of heroin, along with other illicit substances, in the Schladming area over several months last year.
The arrested individual was apprehended during a drug acquisition operation in early November 2024. Investigators have revealed that around 40 individuals, including buyers and accomplices, were allegedly involved in the distribution of heroin, cannabis, and amphetamines. Following a five-month period of pre-trial detention, the suspect was released under strict conditions and an oath, as confirmed by law enforcement officials on Sunday.
Ongoing investigations are focused on tracing the origins of the narcotics and identifying additional participants in the drug trade. This operation underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat drug-related crimes in the region and dismantle organized trafficking networks.
