ÖBB Unveils Plans for Level Crossing Closures in Wienerwald Region

The Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) has announced significant upgrades to the old West railway line, impacting the areas of Ollersbach, Kirchstetten, and Böheimkirchen. Following the extensive modernization and accessibility improvements at the Kirchstetten station, the final technical enhancements are set to be implemented to facilitate a modern rail operation.

According to ÖBB, the stations at Ollersbach and Böheimkirchen will also undergo necessary upgrades to prepare for future demands. To enhance safety measures, four railway crossings will be decommissioned. These crossings will be replaced with underpasses, overpasses, or alternative pathways to ensure safer transit for both rail and road users.

The modernization efforts aim to not only improve safety but also to upgrade the overall efficiency of rail services in the region, catering to an increasing number of passengers while supporting local transport infrastructure.

As the project progresses, the community is encouraged to stay informed about the changes and to participate in information evenings organized by ÖBB, where detailed plans and timelines for the construction and expected disruptions will be discussed.
