New Platinum Label for NIS2 Companies Launched by KSÖ and Cyber Trust Austria

On April 7, 2025, the Kompetenzzentrum Sicheres Österreich (KSÖ) and Cyber Trust Austria unveiled a new Platinum Label aimed at companies subject to the NIS2 directive. This initiative builds upon the Cyber Risk Rating Scheme, which has been in place for four years and serves as a vital tool for systematically demonstrating cybersecurity within supply chains.

The Cyber Risk Rating Scheme has enabled suppliers to NIS2-affected companies to effectively document their security measures in a clear and consistent manner. The ongoing maintenance and development of this scheme are overseen by the KSÖ Cyber Risk Advisory Board, comprised of seasoned cybersecurity experts from leading firms and operators of critical infrastructures.

The introduction of the Platinum Label expands the existing Cyber Trust Label range, which includes Standard, Silver, and Gold levels. These established quality marks serve as recognized and practical evidence of appropriate security measures within the supply chain. The newly introduced Platinum Label is specifically tailored for NIS2 companies, particularly major entities that are not subject to pre-approval requirements but are nonetheless obligated to demonstrate the adequacy of their security practices.

This initiative represents a significant step toward enhancing digital resilience. Through the Cyber Risk Rating Scheme and the associated Cyber Trust Labels, the KSÖ contributes substantially to bolstering cybersecurity within both the business and administrative sectors, thereby sustainably strengthening Austria's digital resilience and competitive edge.

The official launch event for the Platinum Label took place at the Raiffeisen Forum in Vienna, where the first awards were presented to Red Bull GmbH and LiSEC Holding GmbH. The ceremony featured contributions from members of the Cyber Risk Advisory Board, along with a panel discussion involving the honored companies.

A representative from LiSEC expressed that obtaining the Cyber Trust Platinum Label provided an invaluable opportunity to verify their security measures against the NIS2 requirements. The successful acquisition of this label confirms their implemented measures and facilitates the identification of potential areas for improvement, ensuring ongoing security and reliability for their clients in the flat glass processing industry.

Since its establishment in 1975, the KSÖ has convened dedicated individuals from business, academia, government, and politics to share experiences, develop ongoing initiatives, and address emerging topics in the realm of internal security.

Cyber Trust Services GmbH specializes in cybersecurity, offering recognized and practical assessment models through its Cyber Trust Austria and Cyber Trust Europe quality marks. The organization aims to assist businesses in Austria and beyond in strengthening their digital resilience and effectively demonstrating cybersecurity throughout their supply chains.
