NEOS Emphasizes Collaborative Opportunities for Reform in Vienna
In Vienna, the NEOS party has highlighted its significant achievements while in government, celebrating a strong electoral performance in April and the successful realization of 97% of its 2020 program initiatives.
NEOS General Secretary Douglas Hoyos expressed optimism regarding the newly negotiated coalition program between SPÖ and NEOS, which will be voted on by members. He indicated that this program lays a foundation for substantial economic growth and essential reforms in the city. Hoyos pointed out that many projects initiated in the previous legislative term are set to demonstrate their impact in the upcoming years.
Particularly in the education sector, new avenues for collaboration between the city and Christoph Wiederkehr, NEOS's Minister of Education, are expected to emerge. Hoyos emphasized the party's commitment to ongoing development and innovation in education policy.
Moreover, he noted the impressive growth of NEOS in Vienna, which now boasts a significant representation of over 100 district council members in addition to its state parliament representatives and deputy mayor. This growth is coupled with an influx of new members who are eager to engage in political processes.
Hoyos highlighted the party's dedication to internal democracy, stating that NEOS has become a magnet for individuals looking to participate actively in shaping political decisions. The increase in membership applications since the beginning of the year indicates a rising interest among citizens to have a voice in governance.
The upcoming member assembly on Saturday is poised to be a pivotal moment, as members will finalize their stance on the coalition program and its implications for Vienna's future. The NEOS party remains focused on promoting transparency, collaboration, and reform as it navigates the political landscape in the capital.
