Man Attacked with Bottle in Vienna's Favoriten District
A 24-year-old man was injured on Sunday evening in Vienna's Favoriten district after being attacked with a glass bottle. The incident occurred around 7:15 PM in Gellertgasse as the victim was returning home from work. According to police reports, the young man was verbally assaulted by three unidentified individuals but chose to ignore them and walked past.
Suddenly, one of the assailants struck him from behind with the bottle, hitting him twice on the head and causing the bottle to shatter. Following this, the other two attackers joined in, assaulting the victim with their fists. After the attack, the assailants fled the scene.
Local police were alerted and responded quickly, but initial searches did not yield any results in locating the suspects. The victim received emergency medical treatment at the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital. Medical staff were particularly concerned about the potential for glass shards to have entered the wound.
Witnesses from nearby residences reported the incident, with some capturing video footage on their mobile phones. However, investigators noted that the recordings only showed the aftermath of the attack, once the perpetrators had already escaped. The police are currently seeking information from the public and encourage anyone with details to come forward, including anonymous tips.
