Fatal Shooting Incident Claims Life of Hunter in Styria

A 42-year-old hunter lost his life following a tragic firearm accident that occurred in a forested area in southern Styria. The incident unfolded while three hunters, all residents of the Leibnitz district, were working together to load a wild boar that had been hunted earlier into a vehicle.

According to official reports, the group had successfully hunted a wild boar, with the 57-year-old member of the party responsible for the shot. While the men were preparing to transport the animal, the 36-year-old hunter assisted his companions and was handed a hunting rifle belonging to the 57-year-old. After completing the loading process, the 36-year-old attempted to return the rifle to its owner. In this moment, a shot was unintentionally discharged from the weapon. The bullet struck the 42-year-old man who was standing nearby, causing a fatal head injury.

The companions immediately initiated emergency procedures and contacted medical services. Despite the swift response from emergency personnel, the attending physician was only able to confirm the death of the victim at the scene.
