FH Campus Wien Launches Innovative Dual Bachelor's Programs in Early Childhood Education
FH Campus Wien has introduced pioneering bachelor's programs in Early Childhood Education, offering a dual format that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical experience. This initiative aims to equip future educators with the necessary skills to actively contribute to the field of early childhood education.
As the largest university of applied sciences in Austria, FH Campus Wien now offers the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education and the Bachelor Professional in Early Childhood Education. These programs represent the first vocational qualifications for aspiring educators in Austria, combining academic learning at the university with hands-on training in educational institutions.
Early childhood education facilities are crucial as the first educational environments outside the family, laying the groundwork for successful educational and career paths. To effectively fulfill this important role, well-trained educators are essential. The Bachelor of Early Childhood Education and the Bachelor Professional in Early Childhood Education programs are designed to address this need.
These six-semester, part-time programs, each requiring 180 ECTS credits, focus on developing competencies in action, psychodynamic reflection, collaboration, and research. Students will be thoroughly prepared for their professional roles as educators, with employment contracts from respected practice partners such as Kinderfreunde Wien, Kindercompany, St. Nikolausstiftung, and KIWI - Kinder in Wien.
Key features of the programs include:
- Duale organizational structure with close supervision of practical experience
- Psychodynamic concepts to enhance self and external perception in educational practice
- Opportunity for specialization starting from the sixth semester, including areas such as occupational therapy or multilingualism
- A strong academic foundation through research-led teaching and a final thesis
The goal of these programs is to combine contemporary scientific insights with the practical demands of everyday professional life, ensuring graduates can make impactful contributions to the early childhood education landscape.
Career prospects following graduation include leading roles in nurseries, kindergartens, or after-school programs, participation in educational and research projects, practice guidance, and engagement in community and social responsibilities.
The Bachelor program is open to high school graduates or those with equivalent qualifications, while the Bachelor Professional is offered in collaboration with KIWI - Kinder in Wien, targeting individuals with relevant vocational qualifications or substantial professional experience.
Applications for both the Bachelor and Bachelor Professional programs are now open, with the deadline set for May 31.
FH Campus Wien continues to be a leader in higher education, with approximately 8,500 students across its two campuses and collaborative locations. The institution offers nearly 70 study programs and academic courses across various departments, including Applied Nursing Science, Applied Life Sciences, Building and Design, Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Technology, and Public Administration.
