Driver Flees Police at Speeds Exceeding 200 km/h in Upper Austria

In the early hours of Saturday, a 20-year-old man engaged in a high-speed escape from police on a federal road between Attnang-Puchheim and Schwanenstadt in the Vöcklabruck district. The driver ignored police signals to stop and instead accelerated to over 200 km/h. Authorities later discovered that the vehicle was displaying false license plates, and it was not registered for road use.

The driver had affixed his father's license plates to the car prior to his reckless journey. During the incident, law enforcement lost track of the fleeing vehicle in Schwanenstadt, and an immediate search for the suspect yielded no results. When officers arrived at the home of the vehicle's registered owner, the father clarified the situation, admitting to his son's actions. The young driver now faces multiple charges as a result of his actions.

In a separate incident in the Steyr-Land district of Upper Austria, a 37-year-old man also attempted to evade a police patrol. The man accelerated rapidly, prompting the officers to deem the pursuit too hazardous. Instead, they opted to wait for the suspect at his residence. Approximately 20 minutes later, the man returned home, where he was met by police who conducted a breathalyzer test. This test indicated a blood alcohol concentration of 0.76 per mille, and it was revealed that he did not possess a valid driver's license.
