DN Nominated for Prestigious International Journalism Award

The annual international journalism award, established in memory of the investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, who was assassinated by a car bomb in 2017, recognizes outstanding contributions to journalism. This award is supported by the European Parliament.

A recent investigation by DN revealed that the payment processing company Worldline has been implicated in facilitating billions in fraudulent transactions through dubious corporate clients worldwide, aided by a Swedish subsidiary. The findings suggest that Worldline has profited from various unlawful activities, including scams affecting hundreds of Swedish individuals, human trafficking, and potential money laundering.

Being nominated for this prestigious award is a significant honor, underscoring the importance of investigative journalism that transcends editorial and national boundaries, stated a representative from DN.

This investigation was conducted in collaboration with the European Investigative Collaborations (EIC) network. The revelations have sent shockwaves through the financial sector, resulting in immediate repercussions. Worldline's stock plummeted, the company's Swedish CEO was summoned by the Financial Supervisory Authority, and one of Worldline's subsidiaries is currently under investigation for money laundering.

The winners of the award will be announced on October 21.
