Twenty-Year-Old Seeks Custody for Triple Homicide in Uppsala
A man in his twenties has been formally requested to be detained in connection with a triple homicide that occurred in Uppsala. This individual has been in custody since Thursday, under strong suspicion of murder, according to prosecutor Andreas Nyberg in a recent press release.
In a related development, three other individuals--a man aged 25, another aged 35, and one aged 45--have been released from custody. They are no longer considered suspects for inciting murder; however, investigations against them are still ongoing. Additionally, another person has been apprehended, suspected of assisting in the murders. This man was arrested by police during the early hours of Sunday.
The tragic events unfolded near Vaksala Square in Uppsala on Tuesday around 5 PM, where three victims, aged between 15 and 20, were shot and killed inside a hair salon. Authorities have refrained from commenting on possible motives for the killings, as investigations continue.
Initially, a 16-year-old boy who escaped from a residential care facility was detained shortly after the shooting, but he has since been cleared from the investigation.
As it stands, one individual is being requested for detention while three others remain under investigation. A decision regarding the detention of these three suspects is expected to be made by the prosecutor later this week.
