Couple Arrested for Drunk Driving After Speeding Incident in Wels
In a recent incident in Wels, Austria, a couple found themselves in legal trouble after being pulled over by police due to excessive speeding and alcohol consumption. The couple was driving on the A25 highway when their vehicle was clocked at 103 km/h in a zone where the speed limit is set at 70 km/h.
The situation escalated when officers detected a strong smell of alcohol emanating from the driver, a 37-year-old man. A subsequent breathalyzer test revealed that he had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.52 per mille, which is above the legal limit.
When questioned, the man's wife claimed that she was capable of driving the vehicle home. However, police decided to perform a breath test on her as well, which resulted in an even higher reading of just over 1.0 per mille. Given the circumstances, law enforcement made the decision to temporarily confiscate the vehicle's keys and ordered the car to be parked safely.
This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers associated with driving under the influence of alcohol. Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of road safety and the significant risks posed by impaired driving.
