Volkswagen Revamps Its Best-Selling T-Roc SUV With Enhanced Features

Volkswagen has introduced a comprehensive update to its successful compact SUV, the T-Roc, marking a significant advancement for the model. While recent years saw the manufacturer facing challenges with its electric vehicle strategy and customer satisfaction, the T-Roc has remained a cornerstone of Volkswagen's lineup, consistently ranking among the brand's top sellers. Since its debut in 2017, over two million units have been delivered, and the model continues to lead European SUV registration figures even eight years after its launch.

The latest generation of the T-Roc features notable improvements in design, technology, and comfort. The exterior has undergone a complete redesign, drawing inspiration from models such as the Tayron and the electric ID.7. The front now showcases slimmer light strips and an illuminated Volkswagen emblem, contributing to a modern and robust appearance. At the rear, a coupe-like silhouette is complemented by a continuous LED light bar, further enhancing the vehicle's contemporary style.

Despite an increase in size--now 4.37 meters in length and offering a wheelbase of 2.6 meters--the T-Roc maintains its compact appeal while delivering more interior space and comfort for occupants. The luggage compartment has expanded to a capacity of 475 liters, supporting the needs of drivers seeking practicality in a compact SUV.

Inside, the T-Roc has elevated its standards, introducing materials and craftsmanship typically found in larger SUVs. The dashboard is now upholstered in fabric, with soft-touch surfaces and illuminated synthetic leather accents creating a refined, lounge-like atmosphere. The cockpit is equipped with digital displays, intuitive controls, and several innovative features, including integrated door releases and a smartphone charging tray with cooling functionality.

Technological enhancements are prominent in the new T-Roc. The digital cockpit includes a 12.9-centimeter touchscreen, online voice control with advanced language models, and ergonomic seating with massage options. The suite of driver assistance systems has also been expanded, featuring an optional Travel Assist function that anticipates speed limits and intersections, supports assisted lane changes on highways, and can automatically bring the vehicle to a halt on the shoulder if the driver becomes incapacitated.

Additional features include a fully automated parking system, which records the last 50 meters of a route--such as to a home parking spot--and enables the vehicle to park itself autonomously. Parking can also be managed remotely via smartphone, allowing for greater convenience in tight spaces.

The updated T-Roc is powered exclusively by hybrid turbocharged petrol engines. The initial offerings include two 1.5-liter TSI 48-volt mild-hybrid engines, delivering 115 and 150 horsepower, respectively. Later additions will feature two full-hybrid front-wheel-drive variants and an all-wheel-drive mild-hybrid with 170 horsepower. The top-tier T-Roc R model, with 333 horsepower, is scheduled for release in early 2027.

In Austria, four trim levels will be available for the new T-Roc, with the 'Life' version expected to be a popular choice. The starting price is set at 29,690 euros, with further reductions possible through available incentives, bringing the entry price to 24,690 euros for qualifying buyers.

With its combination of updated design, improved interior quality, advanced technology, and efficient hybrid powertrains, the newly revised T-Roc is positioned to strengthen Volkswagen's presence in the competitive compact SUV segment.
