Violence Erupts in Paris Following Champions League Final

In the wake of Paris Saint-Germain's historic Champions League victory, Paris became the scene of violent riots. Reports indicate that rioters looted stores, shattered windows, and set vehicles ablaze, resulting in the arrest of 294 individuals, according to police sources.

The most significant disturbances occurred along the famed Champs-Élysées, which was cleared by law enforcement as the situation escalated. Chaotic scenes unfolded in various parts of the capital, including near the Parc des Princes, where thousands of football fans had gathered for public viewing of the match against Inter Milan in Munich.

Authorities faced aggression from some individuals, who launched fireworks at police officers. In response, riot control units utilized tear gas to disperse the crowds. France's Interior Minister criticized those involved in the unrest, labeling them as 'barbarians' who provoked the police while genuine fans celebrated the match.

In a separate incident in southeastern France, a car drove into a crowd during the celebrations, injuring four people. The local prefecture stated that the driver likely lost control of the vehicle. Among the injured were family members, with two reportedly suffering serious injuries. The driver subsequently surrendered to the police and is currently in custody.

In Munich, the location of the final, the atmosphere remained largely peaceful despite minor skirmishes between rival fan groups. The police reported that while there were 15 temporary arrests for offenses such as trespassing, no major incidents were reported, and the majority of fans behaved appropriately.
