A significant emergency response was initiated on Sunday afternoon following a fire that erupted in an apartment building on Hauptstraße in the municipality of Münchendorf. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

According to emergency protocols, the local fire department in Münchendorf was joined by fire brigades from Achau and Guntramsdorf, alongside aerial units from Vösendorf and Wiener Neudorf. Fire Chief Armin Lahner quickly assessed the situation upon arrival at the scene.

Fortunately, it was confirmed that no residents were trapped inside the affected apartment. However, a cat was found deceased, while firefighters successfully rescued a dog and another cat from neighboring apartments. Their prompt actions prevented the fire from spreading to the upper apartment and the roof structure.

In total, approximately 90 firefighters from the Münchendorf, Achau, Guntramsdorf, Vösendorf, and Wiener Neudorf brigades participated in the operation, deploying 16 fire engines. Additionally, law enforcement dispatched five vehicles with nine personnel, and emergency medical services sent four vehicles with eight personnel to assist.

Local officials, including Mayor Doris Kirstorfer and Deputy Mayor Roland Wallner, were present at the scene to monitor the developments. The all-clear signal was given roughly 45 minutes after the first fire truck arrived, indicating that the fire was under control.
