In the autumn of 2023, the internal rivalry within the Foxtrot network escalated dramatically, resulting in a series of exceptionally violent incidents. Notably, many victims were outsiders with little or no connection to the criminal underworld. Two events in September epitomized this indiscriminate violence.

On September 26, a resident of Åkersberga noticed flames on his porch. As he rushed outside to extinguish the fire, he was shot. The bullet punctured his lung, leaving him on the brink of death. The following day, a 23-year-old man was fatally shot while attending a small child's barbecue in a residential area in Jordbro. Another guest at the gathering sustained a gunshot wound to the hand. Minutes after the fatal shooting, the getaway vehicle crashed into a townhouse.

The man who was injured in Åkersberga had recently rented out a small building on his property to a relative of Ismail Abdo. At the time of the shooting, this relative was not present. In the case of the 23-year-old in Jordbro, authorities believe the shooting was a broad message targeting the local Zero network, which had affiliations with Abdo. Prosecutor Åsa Valter indicated that the order may have been to shoot anyone in the vicinity.

In January of this year, Södertörn District Court sentenced four individuals to life imprisonment for their involvement in a murder and multiple attempted murders. During the proceedings, it was also established through evidence that a 14-year-old boy was guilty of attempted murder, arson, and serious weapon offenses.

The young man identified as the shooter was acquitted of the murder charges in the district court but was convicted for serious weapon offenses and sentenced to one year and ten months in prison. However, the Svea Court of Appeal has now reached a different conclusion. The higher court determined that the evidence against him was compelling enough to convict him for his participation in both shootings, resulting in a life sentence.

Additionally, the appeals court upheld the life sentences for three of the involved individuals. The fourth person, previously sentenced to life imprisonment, saw their sentence reduced to nearly 14 years as they were assessed to have played a supporting role in the crimes.

According to Mattias Attorps, one of the judges in the case, these are extremely serious offenses where the perpetrators ruthlessly harmed and killed individuals with no ties to gang-related activities. Consequently, the sentences for those involved have been exceptionally severe.
