Six Injured in Collision of Boats on the Danube

In a serious incident on the Danube River in Lower Austria, two motorboats collided late Saturday afternoon, resulting in injuries to six individuals, as reported by the Tulln District Fire Brigade. Among the injured, one man sustained severe injuries after reportedly falling into the water and coming into contact with a boat propeller.

The collision occurred between the ferry and the water intake facility in Klosterneuburg, prompting a significant emergency response involving fire services, medical personnel, and police units. A total of ten people were on board the two sport boats at the time of the accident.

Emergency medical services quickly provided first aid to the injured before transporting them to nearby hospitals for further treatment. The two damaged vessels were subsequently brought to shore, with the Klosterneuburg City Volunteer Fire Brigade utilizing specialized equipment to lift the boats from the water. Following directives from the Korneuburg Public Prosecutor's Office, the boats were secured at a safe location within the city.

Investigations into the cause of the accident are currently underway. Approximately 50 emergency personnel were involved in the response, utilizing 12 vehicles and four boats. The operation also included divers from the Vienna Professional Fire Brigade, as well as support from the ÖAMTC emergency medical helicopter Christophorus 9 and a police helicopter.
