Severe Storms in Mexico Leave Over 40 Dead and Dozens Missing

Veracruz and Hidalgo have recorded the highest numbers of fatalities, while casualties have also been confirmed in Puebla and Querétaro. In San Luis Potosí, severe property damage has occurred, although no deaths have been reported thus far. The ongoing disaster has left many communities isolated, creating challenges for emergency teams trying to provide aid and evacuate vulnerable populations.

In addition to the human toll, the storms have affected local wildlife. In Puebla, flooding at a zoo near the municipality of Xicotepec led to the death of a tiger, which was discovered beneath debris swept away by the floodwaters. Environmental authorities continue to monitor the situation to assess the impact on the region's fauna.

Government agencies and humanitarian organizations are working in coordination to address immediate needs and mitigate further risks. Relief shelters have been established to accommodate displaced residents, while medical teams are on the ground to provide care for the injured and prevent the spread of waterborne diseases.
