Max Kruse Rules Out Professional Comeback in Football

Former German national team player Max Kruse has definitively ruled out a return to professional football, expressing relief that no offers have come his way. In a recent interview, the 37-year-old reflected on his recent thoughts regarding a comeback, stating that they were more about enjoyment than a serious commitment.

Kruse noted that while he had considered the possibility of playing again, particularly in leagues in Cyprus and Greece, he ultimately found the prospect unappealing. The former striker emphasized the lack of desire to undergo the rigorous fitness training and discipline that such a return would require.

After stepping back from professional play, Kruse enjoyed a well-deserved break before feeling the urge to kick a ball again. He described his current playing experience as a return to the joy of football, reminiscent of his early days. He now plays casually with friends at a local amateur club, focusing on enjoyment rather than performance.

Having previously played in the Bundesliga for several prominent clubs, Kruse's last stint in professional football was with SC Paderborn, where he competed in the 2. Bundesliga until November 2023. Currently, he plays for the second team of BSV Al-Dersimspor, a Berlin-based amateur club.

In addition to his playing activities, Kruse is set to make his debut as a television expert, providing commentary for RTL during a second division match between VfL Bochum and Fortuna Düsseldorf. He is also expected to cover Europa League matches for the network.
