Massive Fire Breaks Out at Waste Management Center in East Tyrol

A significant fire erupted at a waste management center in Nussdorf-Debant, located in the Lienz district of East Tyrol, on Saturday afternoon. Emergency services responded promptly, with seven fire brigades deploying approximately 130 personnel to combat the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby structures.

The alarm was raised at 1:25 PM, prompting an alert from the Tyrol police's central command. In response to the situation, an AT-Alert was issued for six municipalities in East Tyrol, including Nussdorf-Debant, Lienz city, Iselsberg-Stronach, Lavant, Tristach, and Dölsach. Residents in these areas received official safety notifications on their mobile devices, advising them to close windows and doors and to limit outdoor activities.

Elmar Rizzoli, head of the Tyrolean Crisis and Disaster Management Center, stated that authorities are closely monitoring the situation and maintaining ongoing communication with the emergency response teams. The priority is to control the fire and ensure the safety of local residents while mitigating potential hazards associated with the incident.
