Fri 23rd May, 2025

Innsbruck is gearing up to submit its bid to host the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) in 2026, competing against other potential candidates, including Vienna. The final decision on the host city will rest with the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF), taking into account the guidelines set by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

While financial considerations are crucial in the selection process, Innsbruck's officials believe they have a strong chance of securing the event, particularly if Vienna is not chosen again. Recent discussions have taken place among key stakeholders, including city officials, representatives from Tyrol Tourism, and the management of Olympiaworld, the venue proposed for the contest, which can accommodate approximately 12,000 attendees.

The city is taking proactive steps to strengthen its application, emphasizing its unique appeal, vibrant culture, and ability to host large international events. Innsbruck's picturesque setting in the Alps and its rich musical heritage could serve as significant advantages in attracting the ESC.

As the competition heats up, other cities are also expected to announce their bids. However, Innsbruck's commitment and strategic planning may set it apart from the rest. The city's tourism sector is eager to showcase its capabilities on an international stage, believing that hosting the ESC could greatly benefit local businesses and enhance Innsbruck's profile as a travel destination.

The decision regarding the host city will be made following a thorough evaluation of all applications, ensuring that the chosen location meets the necessary criteria for a successful and memorable event.
