Göttweig Abbey, a Benedictine monastery known for its historical and spiritual significance, is set to offer visitors a diverse ten-day program under the theme of 'Advent Magic'. The event is scheduled to commence on Saturday, 29 November, and will continue until Monday, 8 December. Throughout this period, guests will have the opportunity to experience a range of cultural and traditional activities designed to capture the festive spirit of the Advent season.

The event will include a traditional Advent market, featuring a curated selection of artisanal crafts, Christmas tree decorations, and regional culinary specialties. The market will be held in the foyer, the Brunnen Hall, and the connecting corridors of the abbey, providing ample space for attendees to explore and interact with local vendors and artisans.

An outstanding highlight of the program is the presence of renowned nativity scene carver Thomas Comploi from the Val Gardena region. His detailed craftsmanship will be on display, offering insights into the artistry behind traditional nativity figures and scenes. Visitors will have the chance to witness the process and learn about the significance of nativity carving in European Christmas traditions.

The daily schedule also includes the opportunity to participate in the monks' midday and evening prayers, held at 12:00 and 18:00 respectively in the abbey's church. These prayer gatherings are open to all guests and provide a unique insight into the spiritual life and liturgical practices of the Benedictine community.

A notable feature of the event is the series of daily Advent concerts, scheduled for 14:30 each afternoon. These musical performances will showcase a variety of classical and seasonal repertoire, performed by regional ensembles and soloists. The concerts aim to create a contemplative and festive atmosphere, enriching the visitor experience with music that reflects the themes of hope and anticipation central to the Advent period.

In addition to the main attractions, the abbey will offer guided tours that delve into its rich history, architectural features, and cultural heritage. Visitors can learn about the monastery's founding, its role within the region, and its ongoing contributions to religious and community life. The tours are designed for both first-time guests and returning visitors, providing new perspectives on the site's significance.

The Advent program at Göttweig Abbey is structured to appeal to a broad audience, including families, cultural enthusiasts, and those seeking spiritual reflection. The combination of traditional crafts, culinary experiences, music, and spiritual observances creates a comprehensive festive offering that highlights the abbey's commitment to fostering community engagement during the holiday season.

The event is expected to attract visitors from across the region, contributing to the local tourism sector and supporting small businesses and artisans. Organizers emphasize the importance of maintaining health and safety protocols, with measures in place to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all attendees.
