Acclaimed director Edward Berger and Hollywood icon Brad Pitt are set to collaborate on an exciting new project titled The Riders. The production company A24 has secured the rights to this dramatic adaptation, with Berger taking the helm as director and Pitt starring as the lead character. This announcement was confirmed by several industry sources on Monday.

The film is based on the 1996 novel by Australian author Tim Winton. The narrative follows a man who, after an extensive journey across Europe, plans to relocate his family from Australia to Ireland. However, upon arriving at the airport to collect his wife and daughter, he discovers that his child is alone. This twist prompts a gripping search for answers regarding the wife's mysterious disappearance.

According to reports, production for The Riders is slated to begin in early 2026, with filming locations set across various sites in Europe. The screenplay is being penned by David Kajganich, known for his work on films such as Invasion, Suspiria, and Bones and All.

Brad Pitt is expected to make a splash in theaters later this year with his role as a Formula 1 driver in the film F1, directed by Joseph Kosinski. Meanwhile, Berger recently directed Colin Farrell and Tilda Swinton in the upcoming Netflix film The Ballad of a Small Player.

In addition, Berger's earlier film Konklave, released in 2024, has gained relevance following the recent passing of Pope Francis, as it delves into the election of a new pope based on a bestselling novel by Robert Harris. The cast includes notable actors Ralph Fiennes and Stanley Tucci.
