Baumit Transitions to Sustainable Mobility with Renewable Fuels

Thu 27th Mar, 2025

Beginning in 2025, Baumit Österreich is embracing eco-friendly fuels, having converted its entire fleet and diesel-driven machinery from conventional diesel to Hydrotreated Vegetable Oils (HVO). This sustainable fuel is entirely sourced from waste materials, fats, plant residues, and vegetable oils. By adopting HVO, Baumit aims to significantly reduce its carbon footprint, achieving a reduction of up to 90% in CO2 emissions and over 30% in fine particulate matter compared to traditional fossil diesel.

The shift to HVO is part of a broader commitment to sustainability that aligns with global efforts to combat climate change and promote greener practices within the construction industry. HVO, as a renewable fuel, not only offers environmental benefits but also enhances the company's operational efficiency by utilizing resources that would otherwise contribute to waste.

Baumit's initiative reflects a growing trend among companies across various sectors to invest in sustainable technologies and practices. The construction industry, known for its significant environmental impact, is increasingly recognizing the importance of reducing emissions and promoting sustainable practices.

As part of its sustainability strategy, Baumit is committed to continuous improvement and innovation in reducing its environmental impact. The company's decision to implement HVO is a pivotal step in its journey towards more sustainable operations, setting a benchmark for others in the industry.
